A cab driver was shot in the neck early Friday by a passenger who tried to rob him, police said.
The 62-year-old green cab driver was nearing the corner of Varet and Bogart Sts. in East Williamsburg just after midnight when his passenger began arguing about the fare, then pulled a gun and demanded the cab driver’s property, cops said.
The passenger fired off a round, grazing the cabbie in the neck, but ran off empty-handed, police said.
Medics took the cabbie to Kings County Hospital, where he was in stable condition. Authorities said he is a TLC-licensed driver.
“We are grateful that the attack was not fatal and will provide support as the victim recovers,” said Commissioner Aloysee Heredia Jarmoszuk. “TLC is working with the NYPD and we will do everything in our power to help bring last night’s assailant to justice.”
No arrests have been made.
