New photos of “Duck Sauce Killer” Glenn Hirsch’s Queens apartment show foot-tall stacks of paper covering the kitchen table and floors strewn with garbage.
The shocking photos all but prove his wife Dorothy Hirsch’s innocence, her lawyer argues in a letter filed in Queens Criminal Court Monday.
“Fundamental fairness requires that you make the grand jury aware of evidence that Glenn stored his possessions in the exact manner the firearms were discovered in the closet he maintained at Dorothy’s apartment,” wrote Mark Bederow, referring to “Glenn’s unique manner of hoarding.”
Glenn Hirsch, 51, was charged with stalking and shooting Zhiwen Yan, 45, in Forest Hills on April 30. He killed himself Aug. 5 in his Briarwood apartment while out on $500,000 bail awaiting trial.
His wife was charged with gun possession on June 2, after cops searched the 84th Road home where she lived separately from Hirsch. Police recovered eight firearms, including Lugers, Magnums and a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic along with over 200 rounds of ammunition. The guns were stored in a crammed hallway closet inside boxes and trash bags, some wrapped in aluminum foil.
Bederow also wrote that his client would not be testifying before the grand jury later this month because the affidavit authorizing the search of her home and inventory of what cops found in her closet have not been turned over to him.
The lawyer has previously requested that portions of Hirsch’s suicide note exonerating his wife be presented to the grand jury, along with the facts that he had a key to Dorothy Hirsch’s apartment and was allegedly seen on surveillance video entering her building the night Yan was killed.
Hirsch’s disorganized, squalid way of living was noted by police after a search of his apartment following his June 1 arrest.
Cardboard boxes and garbage bags take up most of the floorspace, leaving only narrow pathways to navigate inside the apartment.
“He’s a hoarder,” a law enforcement source said at the time. “And when you open the refrigerator, it’s like, condiments — there’s duck sauce, soy sauce, ketchup.”
Glenn Hirsch killed the beloved Chinese food delivery man after a months-long beef with the Great Wall Restaurant over the availability of duck sauce, according to prosecutors.
The night of the killing, Hirsch allegedly went to the eatery, circled the block several times and followed Yan as he drove off to make a delivery on his scooter — then shot him to death.
“Dorothy should not be prosecuted because of the alleged sins of her late husband,” Bederow wrote.
She is free on $30,000 bail.
