Nets legend Vince Carter has been voted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2024, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The full 2024 class will be announced on Saturday at the NCAA men’s Final Four.
Carter, 47, played a league-record 22 seasons with the Toronto Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks.
Known by the nickname “Vinsanity” because of his unique athleticism, the 6-6 guard was an eight-time All-Star over that span and was named to an All-NBA team twice. He was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 1999 following a standout college career at North Carolina and retired with 25,728 career points, which ranks 21st all-time in NBA history.
Carter currently serves as a basketball analyst for YES Network.
During his stint with the Nets from 2004-09, Carter averaged 23.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game while shooting 44.7% from the field and 37% from 3-point range while sharing the backcourt with another Hall of Famer in Jason Kidd for four seasons. He would later help the Magic to the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2009-10 season.
Carter was named a Hall of Fame finalist in February in his first year of eligibility. He was the fifth-overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft.
