Kimberly Gotti, 55, and her 23-year-old daughter, Gianna Gotti, are accused of pummeling a woman and tearing off her wig during the contest.

The two would have gotten their assault charges dismissed if the daughter pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor on Wednesday, News12 Long Island reported.

Their defense attorney Gerard Marrone previously turned down a plea deal that would have required the pair to take anger management classes, arguing that his clients were not the aggressors in the altercation.

On Feb. 8, the women were attending an evening matchup between the Oyster Bay and Locust Valley high school boys’ basketball teams in Lattingtown, L.I.

A heated exchange in the stands shortly after 8 p.m. allegedly prompted a 47-year-old woman to scold adults who were hurling homophobic and misogynistic slurs at students.

Kimberly Gotti is accused of rushing that woman, punching her and taking the alleged victim’s hat, while Gianna allegedly joined in on the punching, tore at the woman’s hair and later boasted about the beatdown.

The victim reportedly suffered scratches to her face and injuries to her scalp, which she told police felt like it “was going to be ripped off.”

Marrone claimed that the victims in the stands were parents from Locust Valley who were picking on Kimberly’s son Joseph, who plays for Oyster Bay. He added that Kimberly was punched first. John Gotti Jr. also claimed that his wife was punched in the head.

He said the only reason his wife and daughter were appearing in court was because they refused to press charges against anyone else.

The case is scheduled to return to court on June 4.

3 shot in attack at Lil Baby music video set in Atlanta https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/lil-baby-shooting-atlanta-music-video/ Wed, 15 May 2024 22:07:10 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7700113 Rapper Lil Baby was shooting a music video in Atlanta, when a group of men nearby allegedly opened fire towards the crew, wounding three people.

The incident took place Tuesday afternoon in the shopping district of Verbena Street, in Northwest Atlanta. Multiple videos of the attack and the immediate aftermath were obtained by TMZ.

The outlet reported that a group of men were allegedly pretending to film something of their own near the set, before they drove by and fired shots from a white vehicle. They quickly sped away.

Three men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm and a 27-year-old man was hit in the back, according to Atlanta police.

Authorities say a 23-year-old, who was shot in the neck, somehow managed to transport himself to a local hospital for treatment. None of the shooting victims’ identities have been released at this time.

Lil Baby, who was uninjured in the shooting, is allegedly one of the voices heard yelling in the clips, although it’s unclear what exactly he’s saying.

A semi-automatic weapon can be heard firing nonstop for about six seconds in another clip, and additional footage shows multiple car windows shattered after the attack.

So far, no details have emerged on a possible motive for the shooting or the identities of the attackers.

Last September, gunfire erupted during a Lil Baby concert in Memphis, and resulted in one person in the audience being seriously wounded.

Police arrested the suspect, Kevin Young, later the same month, claiming he was a “known gang member” who was previously arrested in 2017 on murder charges.

Anya Taylor-Joy stuns as ‘Furiosa’ debuts at Cannes Film Festival https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/anya-taylor-joy-cannes-film-festival-red-carpet-furiosa-mad-max-premiere/ Wed, 15 May 2024 21:49:47 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7700340 The hotly anticipated “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” debuted Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival, as star Anya Taylor-Joy celebrated her moment in the spotlight.

“Furiosa” was the 28-year-old’s first film at Cannes. She wore a champagne-colored custom Dior ballgown for the occasion, finished with Tiffany platinum-and-diamond jewels.

The classic look was a significant departure from Taylor-Joy’s eye-popping vintage Paco Rabanne ensemble from the film’s Australian premiere on May 2. That dangerously dramatic getup featured a see-through, gold-and-silver minidress covered in massive spikes, and a matching headpiece.

Though “Furiosa” was her first film at Cannes, Taylor-Joy had been to the festival before. In 2017, she received a Chopard trophy as an emerging actor. Charlize Theron, the first actress to play Furiosa in “Mad Max,” was the one who handed her the trophy.

Taylor-Joy was tapped to take over the role for the prequel film in 2020. Director George Miller said he initially considered using de-aging technology on Theron before deciding to cast Taylor-Joy instead.

Miller was also present at Wednesday’s premiere, likely the most anticipated event of the two-week festival, which ends May 25. Greta Gerwig, Eva Green, Naomi Campbell and Baz Luhrmann were among the stars in the audience.

“To show it in that cinema with about 2,000 people with impeccable sound and screening is a big thing. It’s kind of optimal cinema, really,” Miller said before the premiere.

“Furiosa” opens in North America on May 24.

Victoria Justice breaks silence on ‘Quiet on Set’ allegations against Dan Schneider https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/victoria-justice-dan-schneider-allegations-quiet-on-set/ Wed, 15 May 2024 20:46:40 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7700112 Former Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice has broken her silence on the disturbing allegations against former hotshot producer Dan Schneider, a central fixture of the recent docuseries “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.”

The 31-year-old “Zoey 101” alum, who went on to star in the network’s “Victorious,” told Marie Claire that she’s “definitely one of the people that list” of those to whom Schneider said he owes “a pretty strong apology.”

Allegations against the “All That” creator include racism, sexism, sexual harassment and verbal abuse.

While Justice emphasized that Schneider’s offenses toward her were never sexual — as alleged by other Nickelodeon alumni — she conceded that, in hindsight, she can see elements from behind-the-scenes that “were in poor taste.”

“Something that was very evident in the documentary is that Dan had a very large ego, and sometimes that ego clouded his better judgement and affected the way he treated people, and there were times I felt like I was being treated unfairly,” the “Trust” actress said in the interview published Wednesday.

Adding that her relationship to Schneider is “a very complex one,” Justice said she’s “not condoning any of his behavior” but did credit him for kickstarting her career.

“Most likely I wouldn’t be here where I am today if it weren’t for him, and for him seeing something in me. For that I will always be grateful,” she said.

Schneider dropped a 20-minute apology on YouTube following the release of the Investigation Discovery doc in mid-March, noting that he’d had to face “my past behaviors, some of which are embarrassing and I regret.”

Such allegations include making inappropriate jokes, asking employees for massages and sneaking sexually coded content into his series designed for underage viewers.

“After watching his apology, I think he recognizes that he did a lot of things wrong,” Justice said. “I think if he could step back into a time machine, he would do a lot of things differently.”

Justice’s interview was published one day after “All That” alum Lori Beth Denberg accused Schneider of sexual misconduct — claims that Schneider dismissed as “wildly exaggerated and, in most cases, false.”

Earlier this month, Schneider — with whom Nickelodeon severed ties in 2018 — sued the “Quiet on Set” creators for unspecified damages, alleging he’s suffered both mentally and financially in its aftermath.

Christine Baumgartner flaunts PDA with ex Kevin Costner’s former friend https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/christine-baumgartner-dating-josh-connor-kevin-costner-divorce/ Wed, 15 May 2024 19:25:53 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7699678 Kevin Costner’s ex-wife Christine Baumgartner is flaunting her new relationship with a friend of the former couple, nearly a year after they first sparked romance rumors.

The 50-year-old handbag designer was spotted getting cozy Tuesday with financier Josh Connor as they walked around Montecito, Calif., according to photos published by TMZ.

Though the two reportedly weren’t caught kissing, they were photographed holding hands and wrapping their arms around each other’s waists.

The pictures come roughly a year after Baumgartner filed for divorce from the “Yellowstone” star, nearly 19 years after their late 2004 nuptials.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” a publicist for Costner said in a statement at the time.

By July, Baumgartner and Connor — a former neighbor of the couple — were seen enjoying a Hawaiian vacation, with insiders at the time telling TMZ the two were just friends.

Her pal told People back in January that though “Josh was initially just a friend,” the pair have been dating “since she split from Kevin.”

“He is a divorced dad and understands what she’s been going through,” said the friend. “They both love the ocean and beach life. It’s something that makes Christine happy.”

The Oscar winner and Baumgartner settled their acrimonious divorce in September, with a Santa Barbara judge upholding their prenup agreement and deciding Costner would only have to pay a monthly sum of $63,000 in child support, though she initially sought $248,000 a month.

Together, the “Field of Dreams” star and Baumgartner share sons Cayden, 17, and Hayes, 15, as well as daughter Grace, 13. Costner also has four adult children — three with ex-wife Cindy Silva and one with ex-girlfriend Bridget Rooney.

Sophie Turner breaks silence on claims she was a bad mom amid Jonas split https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/sophie-turner-addresses-bad-mom-stories-amid-joe-jonas-split/ Wed, 15 May 2024 18:48:58 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7699837 Sophie Turner broke her silence in a new interview about her messy custody battle with Joe Jonas and their pending divorce.

The “Game of Thrones” alum, who graced the cover of British Vogue’s June issue, told the publication, “those were the worst few days of my life.”

“I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave,” she recalled. “My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish ‘Joan.’ And all these articles started coming out …”

The estranged pair, who share two children together, 4-year-old Willa and 22-month-old Delphine, got married in 2019 and had a tumultuous split last year.

But Turner says it was  the media reports describing her as a bad mother that hurt the most.

“It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother — mom guilt is so real!” Turner explained. “I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.’ ”

Around the time of the split, photos circulated of the actress at a wrap party for “Joan” with “insiders” insinuating she was more interested in partying than being a mom to her two young kids.

Turner describes the media and online gossip surrounding her parenthood as “shocking.”

“I mean, it’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make s— up and put it up based on a picture,” Turner declared. “A picture might tell a thousand words, but it’s not my story. It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”

“There were some days that I didn’t know if I was going to make it. I would call my lawyer saying, ‘I can’t do this. I just can’t,’” Turner recalled. “And then, finally, after two weeks of me being in a rut, she reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for.”

The actress also expressed her frustration with being referred to collectively — along with Kevin and Nick’s respective wives, Danielle Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas — as “the wives” of The Jonas Brothers.

“There was a lot of attention on the three brothers, and the wives,” Turner explained. “Well, we were always called the wives, and I hated that.”

She added, “It was kind of this plus-one feeling, And that’s nothing to do with him — in no way did he make me feel that — it was just that the perception of us was as the groupies in the band.”

On Sept. 5, Jonas filed for the divorce to Turner in Miami, citing the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”

Turner sued Jonas later that month for “wrongful retention” of their two children. The claim called for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.”

“The Father has possession of the children’s passports. He refuses to return the passports to the Mother and refuses to send the children home to England with the Mother.”

Jonas responded to the suit saying the claim was “misleading.”

But Turner says she’s now in a much better place and is the “happiest I’ve been.”

“There’s something about a community and a support system that I’ve never realized is so important up until now,” she shared. “And I think the reason I was on medication for so long is because I didn’t have those people with me. Now that I’m back home, I’m actually the happiest I’ve been in a really long time. I’m starting over again, rediscovering what I like to do, who I like to be with.”

Joanna Vassos cast as first ‘Golden Bachelorette,’ weeks after ‘Golden Bachelor’ divorce announcement https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/joanna-vassos-cast-as-first-golden-bachelorette-weeks-after-golden-bachelor-divorce-announcement/ Wed, 15 May 2024 16:23:15 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7699064 Joan Vassos has been cast as the first-ever “Golden Bachelorette” — roughly a month since the inaugural “Golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner and wife Theresa Nist closed the book on their fairytale love story.

ABC, the home of Bachelor Nation, announced Vassos’ casting Tuesday at the Disney Upfront 2024 presentation.

The widowed school administrator, 61, and mother of four competed for 72-year-old Turner’s love on last year’s freshman season of “Golden Bachelor” until a family emergency necessitated her departure.

“Vassos is a remarkable woman whose life has been defined by her resilience, zest for adventure and strong family values. It was those family values that led to her heartbreaking decision to leave ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ self-eliminating after a medical concern with her daughter arose,” read the casting release, which noted Vassos is starting “her journey to seek love once more.”

Both Turner and Nist, 70, congratulated Vassos on her casting.

“You will be phenomenal as the new representative of a generation. From one Golden to another…relax, breathe and enjoy,” Turner said in a note posted Tuesday on his Instagram.

“My dear friend, Joan, I am so excited for you!!” Nist wrote on an Instagram Story, sharing a snap of herself and Vassos.

The Disney-owned network announced back in February that the “Golden Bachelor” spinoff would be heading to ABC and Hulu this fall and that casting for the hopeful female was “well underway.”

Last month, Turner and Nist revealed on “Good Morning America” — which also airs on ABC — that they were splitting up, just three months after marrying in a live two-hour TV special.

Noting they remained “best friends” and still love each other, the reality personalities said their romance couldn’t overcome their long-distance living arrangements.

Nist noted at the time that they’d been worried about sharing the news, as they’d given “so much hope” to others searching for love in their golden years and urged them to “stay in it. Stay hopeful. ‘Cause we are.”

Angie Harmon sues Instacart, delivery driver after dog shot and killed https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/angie-harmon-sues-instacart-delivery-driver-after-dog-shot-killed/ Wed, 15 May 2024 15:30:12 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7698989 Actress Angie Harmon has sued Instacart and a driver after her dog was allegedly shot and killed by a delivery person dropping off her order.

The “Law & Order” alum, 51, accused a delivery person of shooting Oliver the pup during an Easter weekend altercation earlier this year in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In an Instagram post, Harmon said the driver shot and killed the German shepherd/beagle mix and admitted to doing it, after making the grocery delivery.

In response, Instacart said it suspended the delivery person and was cooperating with law enforcement.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department did not charge the driver, later identified as Christopher Anthoney Reid, who claimed he acted in self-defense and had been bitten by the dog — which Harmon denies. Police said another dog was present at the time and was not harmed.

Harmon filed a lawsuit against Instacart and Reid, accusing the company and driver of trespassing, conversion, negligence, negligent supervision/hiring, invasion of privacy and negligent misrepresentation, according to People.

The suit claims Reid was “not injured” or “seriously threatened” by the dog and had “ample opportunity” to leave.

Harmon is seeking $25,000 in damages.

“Our hearts continue to be with Ms. Harmon and her family following this disturbing incident,” Instacart told People, adding that it could not comment on pending litigation and reiterating Reid was no longer eligible to use its platform.

Kanye West parts ways with Yeezy chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/05/15/kanye-west-yeezy-milo-yiannopoulos-part-ways/ Wed, 15 May 2024 15:10:27 +0000 https://www.nydailynews.com/?p=7698630 Yeezy chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos is no longer employed by Kanye West amid a new direction and apparent mass exodus at the embattled rapper’s company.

The 46-year-old Grammy winner, who now goes by “Ye,” and the former Breitbart editor, 39, have parted ways, the latter confirmed in a statement to TMZ.

“I wish Ye every success in the future. I have some concerns about his new team, and hope he proceeds with caution,” the British far-right commentator told the outlet.

Multiple insiders with direct knowledge told the outlet that several Yeezy leaders have jumped ship in recent weeks. It’s unknown whether all the recent departures are linked to the development of Yeezy Porn, but Yiannopoulos’ is.

He noted in his resignation letter, a copy of which he provided to TMZ, that for both moral and religious reasons, he had zero interest in being associated with adult entertainment.

Such a move risked being “an imminent danger to my life as a recovering addict and an unacceptable risk to my spiritual and physical health as a former homosexual,” he reportedly wrote in the letter.

Last month, a rep for the “Heartless” rapper told TMZ he was consulting with Stormy Daniels’ ex-husband, Michael “Mike Moz” Mosny, to launch a pornography division.

If Ye shelves the pornographic plans, Yiannopoulos noted “it would be an honor to serve you again.”

Ye opened up back in 2019 about his struggles with a “full-on pornography addiction” as well as sex addiction.

At the time, he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that the affliction had “affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life.”
